Berlioz' Te Deum - February 23-24, 2019

With the Lynn Philharmonia

Berlioz’s Te Deum stands as one of the ultimate ceremonial pieces of all time, and it is still an event whenever the work is performed today.  It is one of the works referred to by Berlioz in his Memoirs as "the enormous compositions which some critics have called architectural or monumental music." Hector Berlioz's choral and orchestral works explore the breadth of the human spiritual experience. His style explores the vast range of human emotion, taking singers from bombastic highs to quiet intimacy. His massive orchestrations echo the ecstasy of adoration and the blasts of Judgment Day.

Haydn's Creation - May 3 and 5, 2019

Master Chorale’s final concert series of the year will be Haydn’s The Creation. In this masterwork for large chorus, soloists, and full symphony orchestra, audience members hear a musical representation of the creation story as described in the book of Genesis. Violins become tigers leaping through the air, cellos and basses become whales and creatures of the sea, brass instruments recreate the first rising of the sun, and vocal soloists take on the roles of Adam and Eve. This monumental performance also represents a continuation of Master Chorale’s educational partnership with Lynn University’s Conservatory of Music and the Lynn Philharmonia orchestra.
